Arctic Monkeys - Humbug

British quitar scene at its finest.
When all this hype, created online on myspace in 2006, has already been converted in sales and world recognition, the third album from the Arctic Monkeys can be considered as a milestone.
Following their two highly successful albums, the Arctic Monkeys do a "checkmate". They trust almost half their album to be produced by Josh Homme from the "Queens of the stone age". The creativity limits of the charismatic Alex Turner and his band are expanding, and we shouldn't forget that half of the much-loved album from "The last shadow puppets" belongs to him.
The dusty Joshua Tree desert in California, where Homme takes them, is having an impact on the way they conceive the melodies. Nothing better for such a talented Yorkshire band than acquiring some "American sound habits".
I would rather not distinct any one track from "Humbug", i like them all the same. The Japanese version of the album, also includes two Bonus tracks, with the cover of Nick Cave's "Red right hand" being a tantalising surprise. Turner is in shape and together with Cook's "weird" guitars give new dimensions to their compositions. Breaking the cocoon and becoming butterflies, only with dark colors on their wings.
For me, Humbug is establishing the band in the "world map" of talented new creators. I am very fond of these young Yorkshiremen. They are maturing, and i just cant wait to listen to their next work.
